NEW COURSE RECORDS AT TRENTHAM PARK
On Saturday 22nd August 2009, in the 1st round of the 36 hole Club Championship,
Neil Wain, a +1 handicapper, shot a superb round of 65, to beat the
existing record of 66, set in 2006 by Edward Richardson, of Southern
Valley Golf Club, during the Midlands Amateur Open Championship.
Neil's round included 7 birdies, and only 1 bogey. Neil went on to
record a second round of 73, for a 36 hole total of 138, to win the
Club Championship by 2 shots.
Craig Smith, who finished runner-up, and accompanied Neil for both rounds said of the opening 18 holes:-
" It was just great golf , Neil was focussed and held it together over the closing holes"
Neil's achievement will be marked by a special reproduction of his scorecard, which will be displayed in the Clubhouse.
Well done Neil!!
Neil improved his course record on Thursday 15th July 2010, when,
competing in the July Mid-Week medal, Neil shot a gross 64 to lower the
record by one shot. The round included 1 eagle, 6 birdies and only 1 bogey.
Watch this space for further improvements, which seem very likely on Neil's current performances!
