Visitor Etiquette

Visitor Etiquette On The Course & In the Clubhouse.

Golf Etiquette
Golf is a fabulous game but it is important to note that the Rules tell us how we are allowed to play whilst Etiquette tells us the manner in which we play. The game is tremendously rewarding when both rules and etiquette are understood and followed by everyone.
The pace of play in golf is of great importance to the enjoyment of the game, not just to those you are playing with but everyone else who may be following. Slow play can cause disquiet to many and must be avoided if at all possible. Trentham Park Golf Club embraces “Ready Golf” which speeds up the pace of play but is not necessarily appropriate for Match Play.
Ready Golf in a nutshell
· Hitting a shot when safe to do so if a player further away faces a challenging shot and is taking time to assess their options
· Shorter hitters playing first from the tee or fairway if longer hitters have to wait
· Hitting a tee shot if the person with the honour is delayed in being ready to play
· Hitting a shot before helping someone to look for their lost ball
· Putting out first when ready with the consent of other players
· Hitting a shot if a person who has just played from a greenside bunker is still farthest from the hole but is delayed due to raking the bunker
· When a player’s ball has gone over the back of a green, any player closer to the hole but chipping from the front of the green should play while the other player is having to walk to their ball and assess their shot
· Marking scores upon immediate arrival at the next tee, except that the first player to tee off marks their card immediately after teeing off
Many of the following guidelines can make the difference between games being enjoyable or not, so please try to embrace them on the course so we can ensure that Trentham Park will remain a great Club and a great place to play golf. Please do not be offended if a breach of etiquette is pointed out to you. You will appreciate it is merely to ensure that Trentham Park maintains the very best of standards, for the enjoyment of all.
