It was a tough day for golf at Davenport, with soaring temperatures testing both skill and stamina. But despite the heat, all 52 players – including three much-appreciated visitors who helped complete our numbers – battled their way to the 19th hole, where well-earned refreshments awaited.

Among the field was our Club Manager and PGA Professional, Jon Farmer, who joined forces with Stuart Molyneux, Martyn Walley, and Ken Langford to form the winning team with a superb 112 points. Jon was full of praise for his teammates, who clearly found a way to thrive in the conditions.

Judging by the scoring, several teams managed to play close to their handicaps – no small feat on such a demanding day – and deserve great credit. Others, understandably, struggled a little more… no doubt the heat played its part.

Nearest the pin prizes were keenly contested, with Martyn Walley claiming the prize for the second shot on the Par 4 2nd, and Mark Lindop nearest the pin on the Par 3 16th.

And finally, as captured in the event photo, Glyn Mycock was presented with a very special (and possibly priceless) prize – though only those present will know what he did to earn it!

A big thank you to all who took part and made the day a success. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
